The origins

The Andrew McNaughtan Foundation was established in 2006 in memory of the late Dr Andrew McNaughtan (1954-2003) and in recognition of his significant work in assisting underprivileged people, especially in East Timor.

Dr McNaughtan was a well-respected, tireless and profoundly successful human rights activist.

“Andrew was one of those very special people whose dedication to the struggle of East Timor was tireless.”

— Abel Guterres, East Timorese Ambassador to Australia
